Dear Friends, Family, PCVs, RPCVs, & Citizens of the World,

I am on the brink of starting an English club (hoping the English teachers come through for me soon with all the paperwork) and I have a pretty solid 4 hours/week class with the English teachers. So in the hopes of exposure and maybe the opening of some minds, I’m asking for YOUR help. I’d love to get a postcard from wherever you find yourself in the coming months, it could be your home town, college town, vacation spot, etc. ANYWHERE! We’d love to have some pins on the map from around the world so if you’re traveling internationally, don’t forget us. (If home is the U.S., it might be cheaper to send it once you’re on American soil.) We might even write you back from our little town in the Ecuadorian Andes. 😉

The idea is that you write a short message directly to the students in simple English with maybe a few words we need to look up or a few idioms I can explain sprinkled in. I work with the equivalent of U.S. 8th graders to seniors and I’d love to be able to do this with each class. I might try to create a world map we can pin the post cards to or create mini-lessons based on each postcard…haven’t gotten that far yet. Ideas for ESL activities/lesson plans related to postcards are always welcome!

Since the post office at my site consists of a lady in a paper store who hides the mail under the counter, please write my phone number under the address so she can call me.

You can send postcards to:

Also, if you wouldn’t mind writing a short comment below if you send something so I’ll know to be on the lookout for it.

This is an ongoing project for my next 2 years in Ecuador so keep that in mind for the future. 🙂

Thanks everyone! Safe travels and happy writing!

Sincerely, Catherine
